Paul A. Meloan

Managing Partner

Paul is a co-founder of Aegis, and like the other co-founders is a veteran of the personal financial consulting practice at Ernst & Young from the late 1990s. He has many client families still with him from his Ernst & Young days. In the past 22 years he has helped successful families navigate a boom, a bust, another boom, another bust, another boom, and one pandemic. Things change.

Paul’s career is proof that life is what happens while you’re making other plans. He received degrees from the University of Michigan and American University Law School, then passed the Maryland bar in 1992. He practiced law for six years, primarily in the courthouses of suburban Maryland. His career took an abrupt left turn in 1998 when he was recruited by a running buddy into the then-burgeoning personal financial consulting practice at Ernst & Young. Metro D.C. was awash in entrepreneurial prosperity and he found a place solving complex tax, investment and financial planning issues for business owners, professionals and executives. Encouraged by his clients to do so, he left Ernst & Young to start his own firm in late 2001 which later became part of the creation of Aegis in 2005.

Paul lives in Gaithersburg, MD with his wife Becky. They have two grown children. He spends his free time riding his bike, running, playing golf and poker. Having been born and raised in the DMV, he spent decades becoming fully prepared never to see his Capitals win a Stanley Cup or the Nationals win the World Series. Thankfully, things change.
